Week 1, Day 1 | January 8th
Even though there are similar dates to the ones back in my world I'm going to keep on using the 'week and day' format I had to use on the Charon. It might help me keep better track of just how long I've been away from home. I'll just add in the calendar date as well.
No matter. On January 1st I woke up in a train station, Conan was with me and so where a lot of other familiar faces but there was someone missing. Sherlock hadn't come back. It was... god it was horrible not being there with Sherlock. We had our fights the last time round but it wasn't right. I shouldn't have wanted him there where we were surely going to end up being tortured but dammit, I did. Couldn't let it affect me, though. Had to look after Conan and he was taking it hard enough for the both of us. I remember the city even if I wasn't there long. They called it Zelien and looked like some American city from the twenties, even had other people there. Not sure that's the right word for them. Ghosts, might be a better fit. Different from the ones on the ship, these ones didn't interact at all with us - like we were the ones who weren't really there.
Made my way to my new room to see who I'd be bunking with, tried to console Conan and honestly that was the last thing I remember before suddenly waking up outside in the pouring rain. According to the information I'm in a city called Keeliai which lies on the back of a gigantic turtle. Fancy that, living on a turtle's shell. I'll properly believe that I see it.
Probably the strangest part about all of this? Sherlock's here. And Conan's living with him. It's a bit like deja vu. Worst part? Neither of them remember the time they spent on the Charon. Not entirely sure what exactly that means except that maybe they went home proper and COMPASS erased their memories. At least that might be true for Sherlock but Conan could realistically be from a time before his time on the ship. Meaning Sherlock's from the future - our future. Says I've got a wife in at least two years time. Don't know how to handle that information right now so I won't. I'll deal with it later.
At the moment I'm sharing a bed with Sherlock, well, not exactly at this moment as I'm not asleep yet but there's only two rooms and Sherlock's got an assistant sleeping on the couch. I do have a job at a clinic which seems nice. Definitely more well-stocked than the one on the ship. Though I'll keep some supplies in my bag, just in case.
Also Sherlock. I do not want to talk about any of this for at least two weeks so keep your mouth shut after you read this.

Yes, alright. What do you want?

When the final days of the island came, there was a great deal of fighting - both monsters and each other. Then there was an earthquake along with a kraken and at some point after that some of the people on the island woke up on the Charon. KERNOS had become COMPASS from that point onward, no one had figured out what happened to cause the change while I was there.
The Charon was mostly crewed with ghosts, honest-to-god ghosts and even then there weren't many of them. You couldn't leave the boat even if you had the ability or any idea where to go. If you tried to swim, the sharks would get you and if you attempted to fly there was a giant albatross waiting to get you. Sixty feet, I think it was. I'm not sure what KERNOS' goal had been - but COMPASS was definitely interested in experimenting on us. Said it was a fear experiment but I'm not sure that's all they were doing. Sometime in the second on the ship a room opened up and there were files on all of the captives but there was a word COMPASS was using for us, probably anyway. It was Phortion. There were some notes about that, things about letting the Phortion stretch their legs or new ones arriving and how they were learn to fear COMPASS. Also revealed that there was surveillance on everyone with a bunch of photographs taken on the ship.
The other captives formed a Resistance after that, trying to pull together some form of communication they could used that COMPASS wouldn't have access to. We assumed that the devices they gave us were bugged somehow and some of the more technologically inclined set up some kind of program later on but not sure how well that really worked. I think it was the fifth week when the ship docked at an island - different from the first and populated with dinosaurs, more like an attraction than something out of the past. At the end of the week meteors destroyed the island. Two weeks on the ship and one on another island - fighting, experiments, experiments involving fighting. Sometime during the thirteenth and fourteenth weeks the Project Head attempted to reset the captives but they fought back and defeated her. Even with her dead the ship kept on going and experiments continued, they even docked at another island.
The week I showed up there another Project Head took control of the ship. Another captain as well. Both Project Heads and the captains were put there by COMPASS, all of them appeared to want to be doing their jobs and weren't under any kind of duress. There were two ghosts - the engineer who had been on the ship before COMPASS got their hands on it. He was helpful as much as he could be and was punished for it at one point. Then there was the little girl. Not so much helpful as she was more tempermental but if you wanted to trade for something, she was the one to see. The first Project Head didn't like it when the captives knew the name of the girl.
Closest we ever got to COMPASS was through dealing with their minions on the ship or when there was a slip-up. Once we found paperwork of KERNOS selling merchandise to COMPASS - selling those from the Alpha phase to them. Some of the papers were ship logs, probably ones from before it came into COMPASS' possession - nothing stood out as strange in the logs. Perfectly ordinary about its time before we got to it. There was a typewriter with a paper still in it and every word on the paper was Argus. We also discovered a machine in one of the holds of the ship, didn't know what it did until later on when the next new batch of arrivals appeared all over rather than just on the deck. We were fishing people out of the water even and a few weeks after that we used the machine to send people away from the ship. Could send them to any world they wanted to go to even but I don't rightly think that COMPASS would allow us to go off on our own, not after they paid for us. I didn't get much opportunity to explore the city they dragged me back to but there was an announcement saying it was COMPASS who'd done it.
There might be some things that I'm missing but I was trying to focus on keeping people alive most days.
Week 1, Day 4 | January 11th
In other news the weather has brought a lot of patients to the clinic, more than one would see on a normal days surely. A bunch of accidents or illnesses from being out in the terrible weather. One thing remains the same and that is Conan. He was out and got knocked into a tree. Luckily I was nearby and got him home before more damage was done. Of course I treated his head wound and discovered that he had a concussion. He'll probably get sick too on top of it seeing as how this kid seems to pile it on all at one sometimes. It's obvious he doesn't trust me. Would be lying if I said it didn't sting a little bit but there's not much I can do about it at the moment.
Unfortunately our flat was damaged in the storm and there's now a giant hole where a window used to be. Landlord came to put up a tarp but Conan's room is unusable seeing as how it's still cold out. He'll probably be staying in our room for the time being. Guess we'll have to look for another flat, a bigger one with more bedrooms so people aren't sleeping out on the couch constantly. People other than Sherlock, that is.
Going to have to hide this thing from Conan so he won't see all these "blogs". Currently writing this one at work so that he doesn't suspect it's anything but a regular pocketwatch. Did get Sherlock a bit of busy work for when he gets too bored - translating some medical documents into various languages from our world. It's for the clinic, for those who come in after us. Maybe we should look into getting a violin too. There's not one in the flat that I've seen so he probably doesn't have one yet. I'd bring one home after work but he'd probably criticise my choice anyway so he should just be the one to pick it out to start with. Something to talk about later.

Though, admittedly, he's probably less likely to go through your things.

[Close to Sherlock's level but not quite. Maybe when he's older.]
You're the only one I've got to worry about going through my things. [Whiiiich John's really not upset by anymore.]

Why would I be disappointed? This just mean you won't make a big deal out of it.

Honestly I think you like riling people up sometimes.

Week 2, Day 2 | January 16th
Sherlock and I went to look at flats today. The first two we dismissed pretty quickly, they needed too much work after the storm. Sherlock actually broke the ceiling in one of them to prove a point to the one letting it flat out. I probably shouldn't have laughed but I did. Needless to say that we will not be invited back to anything that native owns. We didn't even go in to look at the second one. Another storm would have had it falling down around our feet, crushing in the process.
It was eerie looking around the third one. The main floor had an extremely similar layout to our flat at Baker Street. To see Sherlock standing there when... when my last memories of our old flat was when it was empty. When I believed Sherlock to be dead. I thought he'd never stand in front of the fireplace or have various body parts strewn about the kitchen for his experiments or hear him playing his violin in front of the windows. It's just...
Different. He's hasn't been dead to me in almost nine months now, we've been sharing a space in all that time too but there's something about him standing in that place that reminds me of those few weeks when there was nothing but empty echoes in London. I can still remember sitting in my chair, staring at his vacant one and thinking that he'd never sit there anymore. It'll take a while... to not have that sense of dread that he won't be there when I come home after work. But it's the one we've decided on taking. Not in bad shape and has enough bedrooms. Well, nearly enough. Sherlock and I will continue sharing but these days I get about as much sleep as he does.

[Get used to the idea that some day he'll go back and Baker Street will stand empty again for another two years.]
Besides, it isn't as if I haven't been living with you for the last four months or so.
Week 3, Day 2 | January 23rd
Unfortunately we're still stuck in the small flat Sherlock had gotten before my arrival. I've put towels to block out the cold that's coming in from Conan's room. The landlord hasn't done anything to fix the hole and probably won't get to it until we move out. We should be able to move into the new flat next week sometime. Landlord said "before the month ended" but would have the roof fixed by then. Honestly, I'll be glad for it. The four of us (five sometimes) are living on top of each other at times, especially with both Sherlock and Conan home sick all day long. It's not so bad on the days I'm at work but that just means I've got two detectives who are both feeling bored AND miserable by the time I get home. This city needs more takeaway places so I can just pop by on my way back and not have to bother with cooking all the time.
I think it's time to invest in that violin. Why don't you take Conan out to look at instruments, Sherlock? He might like one too. Maybe we'll have duets in the near future.
